How to Deal with Dental Anxiety

extended family of five happy about anxiety free dental visits

If you experience some nervous energy before a dental appointment, that’s completely normal. We know that it’s common for some to feel anxious around doctors and dentist’s offices. That’s why we’ve worked hard to create a comfortable and easy experience that minimizes stress. To set you or your family member at ease before your next appointment, we want to list a few of our amenities that you can look forward to when you see us. We want you to feel there is nothing to fear when you come in for your next dental treatment.

If You Feel Nervous in Waiting Rooms

Some dentist’s offices can feel cold and clinical. We want you to feel as comfortable in our offices as you would in your own home. That’s why we’ve created a serene environment complete with cozy blankets, private treatment rooms with televisions, and complimentary beverages like calming herbal tea or a warm cup of coffee.

If You Have Anxiety About Pain

We hear from our patients that dental visits are often associated with pain. For our part, we want you to know that we are extremely gentle and careful with our patients. We’ll walk you through every step of your treatments. We’ve also acquired state-of-the-art technology to ensure your appointment is quick, easy and painless. We employ the DryShield™ Dental Isolation System that allows our team to work much more efficiently while you stay comfortable during the entire appointment. We also use an intraoral camera, so you get to see what we see when we’re looking in your mouth. These measures cut down on anxiety and discomfort during dental appointments.

If You Stress About Time

We value your time. That’s why we offer same-day treatment options if you’re in a rush. We also offer block scheduling to accommodate your whole family. This means fewer trips to the dentist!

If You Haven’t Taken Good Care of Your Teeth

Although we love to emphasize the importance of good dental hygiene to our patients, we don’t want you to think you’re being judged if you’ve neglected to floss, or if it’s been a while since your last cleaning. It’s never too late to start good habits. We seek to be encouraging, understanding, and educational. Don’t be intimidated by the state of your teeth. All are welcome.

If You Have Financial Constraints

We believe everyone should have access to good dental care. That’s why we try to work with all of our patients to find a good payment option. We are insurance friendly and take Medicaid. We offer in-house payment plans and flexible financing through CareCredit. Don’t let payment constraints stop you.

If Your Child Has Dental Anxiety

It’s very common for kids to have dental anxiety. That’s why we’ve set up a play place in our waiting room for your child to play with toys while you wait. We are especially patient with our littlest patients. We encourage you to bring them by before an appointment for a meet and greet so they can get to know us and see there is nothing to fear!
