Many of us, at some point in our lives, find that we don’t like the smile we see in the mirror. We usually figure there isn’t much we can do about it, or we use over-the-counter products to whiten our teeth and call it a day. But for people with gaps, chips, cracks, or severe discoloration, there isn’t a quick, over-the-counter remedy. That’s where dental veneers come in! When applied to teeth, veneers can change the size, shape, and color of teeth in virtually any way you can imagine. Gone are the days of being stuck with the smile you’ve got. Dr. McCord can work with you to give you the smile of your dreams!
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Veneers are thin sheets of durable porcelain that we apply to the front side of a tooth to change its appearance. Nearly any cosmetic problem you can imagine can be fixed with the use of porcelain veneers.
Porcelain Veneers Process
To begin the process, we bring you in for a consultation with Dr. McCord. He’ll go over your goals for your smile, and together you’ll come up with your ideal smile. This is what the lab will use to create your veneers. Once the veneers are ready, we bring you back in for the bonding process. In order for the veneers to bond properly, we do have to remove a small bit of enamel from the teeth, so that means that veneers are a permanent cosmetic treatment. Once we bond the veneers, they essentially replace tooth enamel that we removed and give your teeth a whole new appearance. For the first couple of days, you’ll want to be gentle when brushing your teeth, but after that, care for your veneers just like you would your natural teeth!
Uses for Veneers
- Fix broken teeth – cover cosmetic chips & cracks
- Fix tooth gaps – close small spaces that don’t require orthodontia
- Fix severe discoloration – teeth whitening alternative if other options haven’t worked
